Preparing for Camp

Preparing for Camp

Going to camp should be one of the best experiences in your child’s life! Children often adapt to camp experiences quickly when they know what to expect in advance. To prepare for a comfortable transition, please review the following information with your camper.

What to Pack for Your StayCampers singing around the campfire.

Since all of our camps are unique, the group organizing your camp can provide a detailed list of what to pack for your stay at Camp Knutson. Our general packing list covers the basic items you’ll need. Please label everything you bring with your first name and last initial. This will help in returning items to the correct owner. Remember to bring bedding and clothing for different types of weather.

Please pack all necessary medications in their original containers unless directed differently when you register through our camp partner organization. We’ll keep medications locked up during camp and our medical team will disperse them to campers as needed.

Our kitchen staff provides tasty, healthy meals and snacks. Please do not bring candy, gum or excessive amounts of money.

We think that camp is best experienced when we “unplug” from personal electronics. We ask that campers do not bring electronics such as iPods, phones and gaming devices. If campers prefer to have these items during travel to and from camp, we will collect and store them during camp.

Meals and Cabins

Eating together and sharing cabin quarters are great ways to meet new friends at Camp Knutson. Campers typically share a room with four or more other campers in one of our new or remodeled cabins. Each camper has their own bed and a shelving storage area to keep their belongings. For most of our camps, the camper’s living space is assigned by their counselors before they arrive at camp.

Campers eat three meals each day with a specific meal planned for each. We are able to accommodate most special dietary needs as long as there is notification prior to camper’s arrival. All meals are served family-style in our spacious dining hall.
