Fleece Tie Blankets for Camp Noah

Fleece Tie Blankets for Camp Noah

Disaster Services — Camp Noah

Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.  Matthew 18:5

What We Do

Camp Noah is a day camp program that serves children in communities that have been impacted by disaster. During Camp Noah, a team of certified camp staff accompany campers through a resiliency building curriculum that enables children to process their disaster and trauma experiences. Each camp is customized to the local community and offers children a safe space to tell their stories and build the resiliency skills they need to move forward. Since 1997, Camp Noah has served in 21 states and Puerto Rico.

What You Can Do

Project Details

Assemble fleece tie blankets for children living in disaster impacted communities that are served by Camp Noah. Please use bright, gender neutral, youth appropriate fabric patterns. Blankets should be 60 X 72 inches (approximately twin bed sized).

Instructions

  1. Purchase two 2-yard pieces of fleece in complimentary colors/patterns.
  2. Lay one piece of fleece on top of the other on a flat surface, making sure that the correct sides are facing outward.
  3. Cut fringe (approximately 1 inch wide, 4-5 inches long) around the entire rectangle.
Make sure you cut the two pieces of fleece simultaneously so the fringe strips are lined up.
  4. You will need to remove a square of fabric at each corner.
  5. Match up the two strips (one from each piece of fleece) and double-tie them.
  6. Repeat around the whole blanket until all of the fabric strips are tied
