Independent Living Skills Courses
As teens approach adulthood, living independently becomes a significant goal. We're here to help during this important stage of development and transition.
While all youth — even those with intact families — may struggle to achieve self-reliance, youth aging out of foster care or who don't have support from their families may face significant obstacles as they transition to adulthood and independent living.
LSS Independent Living Skills programs equip youth with skills they will need to live on their own, such as:
- Basic life skills, including consumer education, budgeting, paying bills, housekeeping, menu planning and food preparation
- Interpersonal skills, including enhancing young people’s abilities to establish positive relationships with peers and adults, make decisions and manage stress
- Employment skills, including preparing for a job, applying to college and attaining vocational training to enhance earning potential
