LifeHaven Transitional Living Services for Teen Moms
Young mothers and their children are welcomed, accepted and supported at LifeHaven.
LifeHaven is a family-style home on the east side of Saint Paul that provides housing and support to 16-17 year old mothers and their children, who are experiencing homelessness. Mothers attend regular parenting and life-skills classes, meet one-on-one with a case manager, and engage in fun and enriching activities. LifeHaven also accepts expecting mothers in their third trimester.
The home houses six young families, who can receive support for up to 18 months, and offers on-site employees support 24 hours a day.
LifeHaven provides a friendly, safe space where young moms can move out of survival mode and begin to work on a plan that will lead them toward stability for themselves and their children. Youth Advocates provide case management, advocacy, independent living skills education and parenting skills education.
While at LifeHaven, young moms have the opportunity to be fully engaged in school, learn life and parenting skills, and prepare for the next steps in their lives. LifeHaven provides opportunities for youth to develop skills related to:
- Parenting and child development
- Budgeting and financial planning
- Nutrition, health and wellness
- Interpersonal skills
- Employment and educational planning
- Mental and physical health
