Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, or LSS, is seeking Foster Grandparent volunteers in communities statewide to provide one-to-one mentoring and tutoring for children and youth in the classroom and other settings. “So many children just need a little attention and understanding to make a positive difference in their day. When I volunteer, I know that I have made a difference in their lives,” said Roberta Klekotka, a foster grandparent.

In a recent Star Tribune story, Shannon Doyle, program manager for Financial Education with LSS Financial Counseling, offered guidance to consumers on Buy Now, Pay Later options that more retailers are using.

LSS Financial Counseling is teaming up with PROP Food to offer no-cost financial workshops for the community. The next financial workshop, “Building and Improving Your Credit,” will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, at the Eden Prairie Library, 565 Prairie Center Drive. Learn more.

Camp Noah, a program of Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, traveled to Kentucky in July to help children heal following a devastating flood last year. Canine companions were on hand to offer support and comfort as well.  Watch the story on WYMT-TV Mountain News in Kentucky!

The Minnesota Legislature included $3.3 million in the state budget this session to support the distribution of prepared meals to individuals who aren’t able to participate in other state and federal meal programs.
